Website Design Process | Main Street Mornington (Mornington Chamber of Commerce)
The Mornington Chamber of Commerce approached us to re-style their existing website. This would require combining two separate websites that existed under Main Street Mornington and the Chamber itself into one fresh and modern site that would attract visitors and inform the locals on the variety of amazing businesses Main Street has to offer.
We focused on finessing the styling of the website and refined the overall look by adding some fresh striking images. A fun brief that we enjoyed working on, with an outcome that is not overcrowded with too much information and is easily navigated by new visitors and locals alike.

Skills Website Design
When discussing the brief for this website re-fresh it was important to our client that the site is visually eye-catching and to grandstand the images of Mornington and the businesses they promote. We have chosen a joyful header image with vibrant colours to highlight the name Main Street Mornington and the description of the site itself. This sets the tone for the images used throughout the site – vibrant and beautiful local photos that have the user feeling the atmosphere!
Wednesday Market Page
A highlight of Main Street is the Wednesday Market and this needed to be showcased as an important feature within the site. With a simple click on the Wednesday Market button and the user is taken through to a stunning header image and the detailed information. We have used a slider in this page to display the many stalls, arts and local produce that make up the market. A vibrant image of fresh vegetables is used as the background to the ‘Becoming a Stall Holder’ section. This gives a perspective stall holder three options (application forms, market regulations and fees) thus breaking up a large amount of information into three easily navigated sections. The social media links that the market uses are also available on this page making navigation simple for the user.
With all the varied business listed with the Chamber, we needed a concise and easy navigated way for users to find a specific store they would like details for. We have achieved this by using
News and Events
A lot of events take place that the Chamber of Commerce helps to promote be it jazz festivals or food and wine tastings. To make this a major feature we have used a very noticeable night time image of a concert to create an atmosphere of fun events.
Join our VIP list
Users love to be on special promotion and offer lists and this is an important part of this site as it allows for events and offers to be sent directly to the individual. This is a simple two step procedure by entering the users name and their email. Let the VIP feelings flow!
So much information to get across to users of this website and the focus was kept on keeping navigation simple and not cramped in any way. A straightforward header with options such as ‘things to do’ and ‘getting here’ enable the user to obtain this information without it crowding the main website page. Towards the bottom of the home page we also have clearly defined tabs for users to access more information on the Chamber of Commerce. This restyle is clean, fresh and modern and is a website Main Street Mornington can be proud of!
